Help Us Grow Our Social Media

Bridges is getting into social media.

Recently, we launched a Twitter account, created Pinterest boards and are working hard to keep our Facebook page as fun and interactive as possible. We also enjoy updating our blog and have some fresh ideas planned for this year.

All of these social media channels will give us greater opportunities to interacting with Mitchell County communities and beyond. They’ll also keep us connected with those who participate in our mentoring program and help us reach a greater number of people when we need to get the word out about certain events or needs.

For example, there is a great need for mentors in North Iowa, most especially for male mentors. We are trying to recruit mentors for the many youth that are on waiting lists.

There are several ways you can help us grow our social media presence:

  • Like us on Facebook. Don’t hesitate to interact with our posts and share them with your friends and family.
  • Follow our new Twitter account. We just got started and really need your help to grow our followers.
  • Find us on Pinterest. We’ve started several boards that highlight our favorite places in Mitchell County, provide craft and cooking ideas, plus health and safety tips. Is there a place or activity we should add? Let us know.

We appreciate your support and hope to connect with you soon.

Bridges Goes Bowling

Last Friday, some of our mentors and mentees were able to join for an evening of bowling at Gerb’s in Stacyville, IA. We had a great evening eating Gerb’s homemade pizzas and spending time together.

Everyone from mentors to mentees showed off their bowling skills.

And many of us learned how to score a game of bowling by hand.

Overall, we enjoyed our time together and look forward to our next group activity. We love supporting Mitchell County businesses, parks, and community centers.

NFL Players Are Mentors Too!

We are thrilled to learn that NFL players take an active role in mentoring youth, too.

Tomorrow, Friday January 31st at 6 p.m., USA Network is airing a documentary called NFL Characters UniteWatch NFL Players share their own experiences overcoming bullying and discrimination with youth who are struggling with similar issues.

It’s pretty exciting to see how anyone can become a mentor, from Mitchell County residents to pro football players.

We’re always looking for mentors. Do you know anyone who is interested in mentoring a youth in Mitchell County or would make a great mentor?

We’d love to connect!

Introducing Jeni!

We’d like to introduce Jeni, our new Communications and Mentor Assistant. She just began in her new role last week.

Jeni will help supervise the mentor and mentee matches and assist in communications responsibilities such as updating the website, managing social media channels, fundraising, and grant writing. She looks forward to being a part of Bridges and meeting everyone connected with the organization.

You can reach her by email at
